*** Dail will not be available for holiday lets in 2017 ***
Dail is a single storey stone built cottage with a tin extension. It has three bedrooms, making it suitable for up to six people.
As Dail is off-grid there is no mains electricity, and water is piped in from a nearby burn. Heat is provided by a wood burning stove in the lounge, which also heats the hot water. Wood and kindling are included in the cost of your holiday, but you are also encouraged to gather more wood to help replenish supplies if you wish.
Lighting is provided by LED lights throughout the house, which works well. There are plenty of lights and batteries available so you can arrange them to suit your needs. We advise you to bring your own torches as well though for night-time adventures!
Dail is only accessible via a forestry track or by water, and there is more information on our location page about this. The car parking space is a five minute walk from the cottage, over a small suspension bridge and a field. Wheelbarrows are provided for you to ferry your belongings up to the cottage.
Dail has a well equipped kitchen with gas cooker, ample crockery and cutlery plus cooking equipment. There is plenty of storage space, and the view for the washing up is pretty fantastic too!
The sitting room is in the centre of the cottage, and has a wood-burning stove. It also has four armchairs, a dining table and six dining chairs, as well as ample books and games.
The bathroom includes a full-size bath, WC and basin.
The double bedroom is in the extension, with views out over the loch.
The twin bedroom has two single pine beds, a chest of drawers for storage, and great views to the mountains behind the cottage.
The bunk room has a sturdy wooden bunk bed, designed to be strong enough for adults and with adequate head room when sitting up. There are also a wide selection of children’s books, plus games and jigsaws for all ages. This collection is constantly being added to!
Dail is surrounded by a large, fenced garden mainly laid to grass. There is a byre alongside which can be used for storing bikes, kayaks etc.
